Community Organization Grant Request* Mayor and Council will vote on the Cheverly Parent Resource Committee (CPRC) Grant request for $2000 to provide school supplies and resources for students in the 2020-2021 school year.
Town Administrator Report Town Administrator Galloway – will provide a report to the Mayor and Council regarding the status of Town operations and a summary of actions taken under the COVID-19 state of emergency. MPIA update? Craftsman?
Alcoholic Beverage Licenses Hearing Mayor and Council will discuss the upcoming liquor board hearing scheduled for August 25, 2020. Tropicana Grill and Food Market, LLC, t/a Tropicana Grill and Food Market, 3505 Maryland Avenue, Cheverly, 20785 and Rinco Escodido Deli Bar and Restaurant, LLC, t/a Rinco Escodido Deli Bar 5701 Columbia Road, Hyattsville, 20785 will be applying for a Class B, Beer, Wine, and Liquor license.
First Reader of the Indigenous People and Juneteenth Ordinance Mayor will introduce an ordinance renaming Columbus Day to Indigenous People’s Day and establishing Juneteenth as a Town holiday. The ordinance will also be read at the September and October Town meetings, and will be followed by a Council vote in the October Town meeting.
Board of Elections Supervisors* Mayor—will request Council approval of three (3) nominations for Board of Election Supervisors at this time (while awaiting potential Charter amendment expanding Board count).
Non-Citizen Voting Update Town Administrator – will provide an update on the timeline of the Charter Amendment.
Resolution for Refuse Trucks* Mayor and Council will pass a resolution that is required by the bank to finance the refuse truck for Public Works.
Review of August Worksession agenda and future requests Mayor and Town Administrator will offer a forecast of the August Worksession agenda. Mayor will seek Council input on agenda items for consideration for future Worksessions.
